Tom, the T Shirt Guy, is a self-employed screenprinter since 1990.

Having printed on a variety of materials, mostly T shirts, he was eventually lured to the art side.

His interest with sculptural metal began in the mid '90s, and since has grown and was a catalyst for his recent series of lamps and lighting.

He has absorbed technique through books, meetings/working with other craftsmen and sessions at the Penland School of Crafts.

He uses old tools, toasters and bowling pins for the body, and a constructed sturdy steel base.

All the lamp shades are hand built from non woven fiberglass sheeting, hand dyed and decorated, then laced to their frame by hand.

And of course he continues printing t shirts to this day.

…and so much more!

Self employed since 1990, printing t shirts.

Had a chance to make some lamps for a friend and liked the laced fiberglass shades I had seen in thrift stores, so I went with that.

I use old tools, toasters and bowling pins for the body, and
 a sturdy steel base.
